The American Red Cross – Bicycle Safety Tips

To be a good cyclist it takes skill, but it also takes smarts.
Parents teach your children the rules for riding, and use the rules yourself!

Bicycle Safety Tips from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission:

• USE A BICYCLE HELMET flat atop your head, not tilted back at an angle.
Make sure it fits snugly and does not obstruct your field of vision.

• Make sure your bicycle is properly adjusted, check your brakes, check your wheels

• Wear bright fluorescent colors during the day so you will be seen.

• Avoid riding your bike at night. If you do, make sure it has head and tail lights and wear reflective clothing.

• Be alert and watch for obstacles in your path.

• Ride with traffic

• Obey traffic laws
